Acne is considered to be a universally present skin affliction. Almost ninety percent of all teen that are between the ages of thirteen and nineteen basically develop one of its various forms.

While the medical specialized dermatologists are trying to figure out what are the causes of it apparition, so that they can understand more and more about it, it’s real purpose and of course, so that they could develop a standard and proficient solution for it.

A century ago, medical doctors that have started to study its effects, have claimed that acne as we know it is not even a disease, because it too common.  They said that this derma affection was the proper way of passing on through life, the right way of leaving the adolescence and the path towards maturity. So they called this one of the normal effects of the pubertal period.

Nowadays we know that almost ten percent of all adult population still suffers from mild or moderate forms of acne. This is closely linked with some hormonal imbalances that occur during certain time periods. The body is in a constant transformation; most of these changes are visible or felt at the cell levels and its activity.

Some women during their periods develop a mild type of acne. This is of course related to the imbalances that the body suffers at the cellular layer levels and the peculiar hormonal activity. The proper treatments to this affection are usually linked with the cause of its apparition. The acne differs from person to person and this is why some of the existing cosmetic products on the market, may not create the desired effect, meaning in some many cases, these cosmetics have not managed to clean up nothing.

This is why a previous visit to a dermatology specialist is essential when trying to treat it. Some of the acne may be a cause of the obstructed channels that have to reach the skin’s surface, delivering the oily excretion we know as sebum. This creates a protective layer I most of the cases, but when mixed up with the hormonal imbalances, that creates a reaction that triggers an over production of this substance, that eventually is combined with dead cells and bacteria from the facial skin’s tissue and develop into a zit.

Other cases may be linked also to the sebum secretion and its excess excretion, but mixed up with the bacteria existing in the hair follicle. This can create a severe acne skin condition that the dermatological books refer to as cystic acne. While the skin regains its vitality some scars are prone to remain visible on the facial tissue. The recent medical and acne treatment reviews point out the fact that light therapy can clear up all of this cystic scars that bother the sufferers.  It is a long shot but in most of the cases it has proven its worth.
