The ultraviolet light acne treatment is today the latest thing in dermatology. When trying to diminish the effects and to prevent further on cases of acne, the medical staff dermatologists are divided. Some of them recommend this kind of treatment because they say it really does work in delivering the desired no acne effect.

It all starts with a fifteen minute session that is not so expensive and has no immediate side effects like in other forms of acne treatments. The facial skin is the best surface to work with, because it has a different composition and the acne developed here are prone to affect you more than those developed on the back, for instance. So…the treatment consists in some regular weekly visits to the medical derma labs where they have this kind of ultraviolet light acne treatment machine.

The facial skin is oiled up with a thick layer of special lotion formula that covers the entire surface of the face. This cream is similar to the sun screen lotions and it has almost the same purpose, in creating a protective layer, similar to a barrier that stays between the rays and the skin tissue.

The eyes of course, are covered with some modern high tech pair of goggles, and this is also a protection method from the rays that will be emitted by the ultraviolet light apparatus. After the fifteen minutes have passed, a proper face wash is required so that the lotion that was previously applied is removed, and the only advice afterwards is that the patients should avoid longer sun exposures for at least two hours before the light therapy.

The visible effects start to become more obvious when a certain time period has passed. Usually it takes about two or three days but to really see the effects, the treatment has to go on for at least 3 sessions. At first, some of the already existing inflammations and redness areas that surround the zits start to disappear. After these visible forms, the zits start to clean up and the previous existing scars in the tissue layers of the skin’s surface are starting to cover up.

The ultra violet light acne therapy has become more like a fashionable method in the battle against zits and other effects that this disease creates, and in some part of the United States the machines are installed in the hospitals, private derma Clinique and so on.

However, in many of the cases the effects are basically unknown over a long term. Being a very recent techno medical discovery the long term effects that this therapy might have on the skin is not known. The main advantages of this kind of cure lies in the fact that ninety percent of all the patients, who suffered from mild or moderate cases of acne really cleaned up and the facial tissue looks softer and smoother than ever.
